Britney Spears Talks About Infamous Diane Sawyer Interview in Deleted Insta Post

2003 wasn’t the best year for Britney Spears, yet finally, she can express herself about some of the worst things that happened to her pre-conservatorship.

Among these, we have the infamous 2003 interview with Diane Sawyer, which prompted Britney to delete an Instagram post where she tells her to kiss her white ass.

For those unacquainted with the case, Diane Sawyer is the interviewer who had shamed Britney for breaking up with Justin Timberlake, essentially making her seem like a slut, humiliated her in public television, and even defended Kendall Ehlrich’s casual comments about shooting Britney.

Before the interview was even over, Britney was crying.

The post said:

“Do we dare forget the Diane Sawyer interview in my apartment almost 20 years ago? What was with the ‘You’re in the wrong’ approach?? Geeze… and making me cry???”

Let’s not forget that the interviewer’s questions were so uncomfortable that they made Britney cry.

“Seriously though… I lived in my apartment for a year and never spoke to anyone… my manager put that woman in my home and made me talk to her on national television, and she asked if I had a shopping problem!!!

Not the wisest move from her manager.

“When did I have a shopping problem? When I never left my apartment???”

Britney also mentioned how unsettling her slut shaming comments were directed at her breakup with Justin, especially given that she couldn’t talk to anyone for a long time afterward. Not only that, but during that specific time when Britney was even unable to speak due to heartache, her dad forced her to talk to three men in their living room.

“I was a baby,” Britney continued. “I was almost 22 and didn’t understand, but I fucking do now.”

Not only that, but after giving Diane Sawyer her well-deserved comeuppance, Britney went on to drag her family too for their incredibly concerning behaviour, especially that of Jamie Spears.

Britney’s father has run her entire life for her, controlled her money, and forced her to take many uncomfortable actions against her will, as we could see with the Diane Sawyer case above.

It’s about time Jamie Spears was called out for some of his worst behaviours already.

“I went to an ATM and was so proud of my $300… and no, I’m not embarrassed to share this… well maybe a little… but I’m more embarrassed about my family for condoning the fact that I wasn’t allowed to have cash for so long when I worked my little ass off for them.”

Britney’s resentment even poured over the entire state of California, attacking them in the post for allowing her father to work her to the bone without even paying her what she was worth.

Though her conservatorship ended in November, after 13 years without any legal control over her life and finances, its obvious that the emotional damage this duress caused on her won’t wear off for a while. Britney showed us with this post that she’s not afraid to expose her most blatant abusers, that made her life miserable while she worked for them.

While most of the deleted Instagram post was venting to the world because of her mistreatment towards her, Britney did try to end it in a positive note. The ending of her post is a celebration of her newly-found empowerment and independent, free from the clutches of her family and media.

She’s happy she can now buy herself wine, Christmas socks, and chocolate. It’s most likely the first Christmas in 13 years where she can purchase something she actually wants to and enjoys, it’s a small victory for Britney nonetheless.

It’s interviewers like Sawyer that make things for other women worse. Her 2003 interview comments shamed Britney for an admittedly rough breakup, and she was complicit in forcing her to partake in an interview. It was more than obvious she didn’t want to.

If Britney breaking down into a sobbing mess in the middle of it didn’t make it obvious, no one knows what else would’ve. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new, independent year for Britney Spears.
