Los Angeles-Based Afropop Duo itsENJ Unveils Joyful New EP ‘Añurika’

Just two months after their buzzworthy Dappa Way EP, Los Angeles-based Nigerian-American duo itsENJ is back with their latest release, Añurika. This vibrant EP, meaning “joy is greater,” features five dynamic tracks that celebrate African heritage and aim to connect with the global diaspora.

Fresh Sound and Cultural Blend

Recorded in Lagos, Añurika blends afrobeats, hip-hop, disco, and dancehall with traditional Igbo sounds. Produced by itsENJ alongside ElvisBeatz and Mykah, the EP showcases a unique mix of genres and cultural influences.

The EP opens with “Enjoy Life,” encouraging listeners to embrace joy. It moves to “Napukenda,” a love song in Swahili, and then to “Where You Dey,” which delves into feelings of despair and faith. “Ego” celebrates Igbo traditions, and the EP concludes with “On God,” an anthem about overcoming adversity.

Embracing Nigerian Heritage

itsENJ shares their inspiration: “Growing up in the U.S., we longed to reconnect with our Nigerian roots. Añurika reflects our journey and celebrates joy, love, and unity. We invite everyone to join us on this musical adventure.”

itsENJ: Fusion of Cultures

Chimdi and Otito of itsENJ combine their Nigerian roots with American influences. Raised in Enugu and New York City, their music is enriched by African, Caribbean, and Hispanic sounds. Now based in LA, they continue to innovate and connect with a global audience.

Their single “PFI (Pray For It)” featuring CKay and their debut EP Born On The Moon established them in the afropop scene. With Añurika, itsENJ further cements their place in the industry with joyful and purposeful music.
