BRITISH SOUL-R&B SONGSTRESS GEO BADDOO PAYS HOMAGE TO ‘70S LOVERS ROCK ON ROMANTIC NEW SINGLE ‘SILVER LINING’

SILVER LINING’ is the infectious new single from emerging British soul-R&B artist and producer GEO BADDOO arriving on September 12 to ease us nicely into summer’s afterglow. Serving as her first true love song, this new offering comes on the back of her confident summer bop ‘Look At Me’ and the empowering year-opener ‘My Turn’, which have seen the London-based Somerset native garner support and acclaim from the likes of BBC 1Xtra, COLORS, VIBE Magazine, BBC Introducing and Live Nation’s Ones To Watch. Paying tribute to ‘70s Lovers Rock music and offering a nod to iconic reggae love songs, Janet Kay’s ‘Silly Games’ and ‘No Games’ by Serani, Geo Baddoo wants to swap the drama and toxicity of modern romance for honesty, tenderness, and connection on ‘Silver Lining’.

Written and produced by Geo Baddoo and Grammy-nominated producer and musician Steve Marshall (Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, George Clinton, Keith Richards), ‘Silver Lining’ was first conceived by Geo on a trip to the States, before developing it further with close collaborator Steve back in the UK. Driven by her beautiful voice and harmonies, alongside lush electronic and acoustic guitar arrangements, groove-heavy percussions, infectious melodic synth riffs, and archive conga recordings from the late Reuben ‘Sleepy’ White, ‘Silver Lining’ is warm and full of life. Lyrically, Geo centres the words “I’m ready” as both confession and commitment to her lover, as she sings of a love that arrives when you’re grounded in knowing yourself, and the kind of connection that comes when two people can truly meet each other.

True to its title, ‘Silver Lining’ feels like light breaking through – an uplifting ode to love that invites late night spins, slow dance rooms, and anyone ready to believe in something steady again. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Geo Baddoo says, “this is the first love song I’ve released, showing another side of me, but it had to wait for me as much as I waited for it. So often we see relationships portrayed through drama or toxicity, and I wanted to flip that script with something honest and hopeful. The song is about a love that’s only possible when you’re grounded in self-love, when you’re in touch with yourself and what you need. The world will always bring chaos and hardship, but we can still create moments of beauty and love. I hope people feel that light and idealism when they hear it”.
