Kim Kardashian to Testify in Paris Armed Robbery Trial as Proceedings Begin

Nine years after being held at gunpoint in a Paris hotel room, Kim Kardashian is set to testify in the trial of ten individuals accused of orchestrating the 2016 robbery, during which approximately $10 million worth of jewellery was stolen. The trial commenced on April 28, 2025, at the Palais de Justice in Paris, with Kardashian scheduled to appear in person on May 13.

The incident occurred during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, when masked men disguised as police officers forced their way into Kardashian’s luxury residence. They bound and gagged her, locking her in a bathroom before fleeing with high-value items, including a $4 million engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West.

The defendants, predominantly older men with prior criminal records, have been dubbed the “grandpa robbers” by French media. Among them is Aomar Aït Khedache, known as “Old Omar,” alleged to be the ringleader, and Yunice Abbas, who has publicly expressed remorse for his involvement.

Kardashian has spoken about the lasting trauma from the ordeal, noting that she feared for her life during the attack. She has since increased her personal security and is pursuing legal studies, viewing her upcoming testimony as a step toward healing and justice.

The trial is expected to continue through May 23, 2025, with charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, and criminal conspiracy. Only one piece of the stolen jewellery has been recovered to date.
