Best Face Moisturisers for this Winter

Brrr. It’s that time of the year again. Dark night and mornings. Frosty pavements. And dry skin.

When the temperature decreases moisture gets sucked out of the skin like a vacuum. Cold and windy weather aggravates ALL skin types, even the oiliest. Then there’s the heating which literally electrocutes the heat from your skin. Oh no. Winter is just not that season, clearly (team summer up two points).

Dry skin is normally harmless but when left uncared for it can lead to serious skin issues such as psoriasis (ask your doctor not me) and overall just look very unappealing to the eye. You may find that your skin is red or grey depending on complexion flaking and feel tight to touch. Rough fine lines appear more than usual and your skin might also feel rough, itchy or flaky.

Of course there are ways to prevent this happening like keeping yourself hydrated with water or a fruitful diet and avoiding long hot showers. All which we should be doing for the environment anyways *side eye*.

Or turning down the electric heater and turning on the humidifiers. Exfoliating with a chemical, granular substance or skin friendly abrasive cloth or sponge can also make a huge difference.

But the best (and the most fun) investment into your winter lifestyle is to find a new skincare routine. Starting with the most important product, moisturisers!

Renee Rizr Aesthetics A Medical Aesthetician on TikTok says:

Moisturisers are necessary to maintain the elasticity of the skin’s upper layer allowing it to function properly as a barrier since our face is constantly exposed to elements. Moisturisers can protect and improve the quality of skin and can even protect from sunlight.

Her TikTok videos also point out why we need to look for these three in our moisturiser ingredients. Humectants, Occlusives and Emollients. Which are all encompassed underneath the word Moisturiser. Watch her videos to find out more and check out these top notch products below!
